This might cause some confusion, given that Rush has been one of the most ardent champions of the birther conspiracy theory. Rush contests that Obama is not eligible to be President because he supposedly was born in Kenya to an American mother, though Ted Cruz shares a similar predicament: He was born in Canada to an American mother.
What makes Cruz's very real situation different from Obama's imagined one?
Nothing. Rush openly admits as much.
"There are also questions with regard to Cruz's eligibility for the office (having been born in Canada)," Rush concedes, "but given the history of this issue on the same subject with regard to President Obama, I won’t even go there.
Rush also writes that "Ted Cruz looks like a white guy, but he's not – which is a non-issue to people who judge character over color. After all, our president looks like a black guy, but he's not, and few of us make any bones about that."
Like many right-wing extremists, Rush's loathing for Obama is so extreme that he can neither allow Obama's presidency to be recognized as legitimate nor historical and now insists that Obama is somehow half-black and too black simultaneously.
