Erick Erickson denounces gay rights "intolerance" of religious intolerance

Yup. More of this crap again.

In a December 9 post to his RedState.com blog, Erick Erickson lashed out at a Colorado judge's recent ruling that a Denver baker violated the state's anti-discrimination law when he refused to serve a same-sex couple.

According to Erickson, gay rights activists are demonstrating intolerance by seeking protection from discrimination.

"There will be no accommodation between gay rights activists and those seeking religious freedom to opt out of the gay rights movement," he writes. "Gay rights activists demand tolerance for their lifestyle, but will not tolerate those who choose to adhere to their religious beliefs."

As a reminder, there is nothing which prohibits self-proclaimed Christians from thinking that non-Christians are sub-human, much the same way nobody objects to Bible adherents who think working on Sunday should be punishable by death.

It's when those beliefs are put into practice that people object.

"Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominate and then it seeks to silence good. We are more and more rapidly arriving at a point in this country where Christians are being forced from the public square unless they abandon the tenets of their faith," he continues. "In our secular society, Christianity is something you do on a Sunday and who you sleep with defines you."

Ironically, the secular Christianity Erickson decries better describes his own religious views: adhered to only when convenient.

There's much more to Christianity than just paying lip service to God while yelling at gay people. True Christianity entails practicing the tolerance for others that Erick Erickson now whines he is not receiving.
