Erica-Christina Little is the newly crowned Miss Black Georgia USA

"And it came to pass...thank you, Lord" was the Facebook status of Erica-Christina Little, the newly crowned Miss Black Georgia USA on November 10, 2010. Her medley from The Color Purple showcased her gifted voice and amazing stage presence from the golf apparel to the stunning custom made evening gown by Sherri Hill, Little was able to beat out the group of talent young ladies and capture the title. "My overall experience was far beyond amazing. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet other outstanding African American women who share my views of women empowerment," Erica-Christina shares.

The opportunities continue to present themselves as the new queen attended the Sister 2 Sister Magazine Awards Reception hosted by Roger Bobb of Tyler Perry Studios sponsored by McDonald's. "I've always envisioned what it be like to be in the presence of powerful women in which, I'd admired but actually having the opportunity to meet and interact with those same powerful women was astounding, " Erica states with excitement. " Its encounters like those that make me most want to fulfill my platform of G.I.R.L. Promise even more so that I can create opportunities such as the event last night for younger African-American women."

The journey to the crown was a wonderful experience for each of the contestants. With a desire to win and spend the next year traveling across the state, the hard work of the contestants paid off with a great pageant. The royal court includes Nykia Burke, 1st Runner Up and winner of the Sisterhood Award; and Terronique Brown, 2nd runner up and Miss Photogenic. Other awards presented were Director's Award to Ansley Booker and People's Choice Winner, Jasmine Carter. "The Miss Black Georgia USA Pageant gave me an opportunity to define my platform and discover my own potential to lead and impact change in my community," states Nykia, who did a rendition of Summertime from the opera, Porgy and Bess, for her talent. "I am so excited to have the opportunity to further my platform and personal growth and development."

It was a night filled with amazing talent, moving entertainment and a theatre filled with friends, family, supporters and sponsors of the Miss Black Georgia USA Foundation and contestants. Entertainment was provided by The Dancin' Divas of Lovejoy Middle School and the Soulful Praise Gospel Choir at Pebblebrook High School.
