Right now if you turn on any channel in Oklahoma you will see President Obama talking about the fact that Eric Shinseki is stepping down as the VA Secretary. Things are not going well for veterans right now and they are hoping that this will help fix the problems. On Friday, USA Today shared about him stepping down. Members of congress from both parties wanted him to resign.

President Obama is talking on television now about how the VA has old systems that need fixed. There are various problems with scheduling appointments for veterans. Nobody knew that these needed to be fixed though. Now the information is coming out and they will be working on getting this done. The main problem is that vets were not getting scheduled to see doctors in a timely manner.

He feels like there have been great strides made in the care once a veteran gets into the system. It is hard for them to get into the system though and see a doctor for the first time. Things need to get better and our veterans need to be taken care of in a better way.

President Obama has shared that he does agree that the VA needs new management. Shinseki did apologize for the fact that this has happened. Obama wants someone who is spending every minute of every day working on getting the veterans into the doctor. He wants the system fixed and he thinks that this is the best way to get started on this making it better in the future.

National Journal shared that Eric Shinseki is apologizing for the delays that vets have been seeing in getting in to see a doctor. The wait list scandal is the reason he is being asked to leave the office. There is no reason that veterans who have served our country should have to wait to see the doctor for as long as they are waiting at this time. This has been going on for a while now.
