Guitar legend Eric Johnson will come to Des Moines on Wednesday for a 9 p.m. tour stop at Wooly's. The "Cliffs of Dover" (see video) guitarist has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, winning the 1992 Grammy for "Best Rock Instrumental Performance". Including his solo work, Johnson has played guitar on more than 80 albums. Johnson's latest solo album, entitled Europe Live, was released in June. Johnson begins a three week solo tour in Des Moines before returning to the Experience Hendrix Tour. Tickets for the Wooly's concert are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the show. The concert will be a 21-and-over event. No opening act has been announced for this show.

Also on Wednesday, the Des Moines Music Coalition will hold their "Music Saves" event at Vaudeville Mews in Downtown Des Moines starting at 5:45 p.m. The event is a "thank you" for all of the community support, as well as a chance for music fans, musicians, volunteers, and music industry professionals to network. There will be free appetizers and drinks provided, and MAIDS and Twins will perform. The event is free and open to all ages. After "Music Saves", Vaudeville Mews will host a 10 p.m. late show starring experimental sax player Curt Oren with openers Used Alien Mind/Statocyst, Kamrar, and DJ Tanner. The show is a 21-plus event and has a $5 cover charge.
