“I’m pretty eclectic,” Eric said regarding his musical preferences. “I listen to a lot of different stuff."

He continued, “ I just got the new Amos Lee record; it’s awesome. I love Brandy Clark. I love her new album, too. Twelve Stories; really good. I listen to a lot of different kind of stuff; I just move around a little.”

When asked if he listened to hip hop, Eric replied, “I’m bad because I hit the highlights, probably like a lot of other people.”

Eric hit the top of the Billboard country charts with his powerful ode to young love, “Springsteen.” Host Bobby Bones asked if Bruce Springsteen ever called him and Eric shared his story.

“I got a letter. Last year. His tour manager came to a show and walked up on the bus and said, ‘I got something for you. I was with Bruce last night and they just played Fenway Park.'” Eric reminisced.

“He reaches in his briefcase and he pulls out the old set list for Springsteen. It was three hours and thirty-seven minutes long; I remember that. I remember how long it was because that is crazy. I thought that was nuts. He filled up the whole back of the set list. It was funny because they were on their way to the airport, they were in the car and you can see where he’s jumbling and trying to write. But it just talked about being a fan of the song; he gotta kick out of it. I’ve still not met him. He said, ‘I hope we cross paths somewhere down the line,’” Eric concluded.
