For those who live in the New England area or will be visiting on Friday, October 9, 2009, children, parents and families can join the fun at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art as it celebrates “Jumpstart’s Read for the Record” campaign and this year’s selection, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by author/illustrator, Eric Carle.

This is a totally free special event and is being held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Museum’s 125 West Bay Road location in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Guests will enjoy caterpillar-themed activities in the Art Studio, created by the event co-hosts, the Evaluation Systems Group of Pearson in Hadley, Massachusetts.

In addition, guests will see original artwork that Eric Carle created for his much-loved book, and enjoy The Very Hungry Caterpillar film in the state-of-the-art Auditorium.

Special guests William Gorth, President of the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson, and Onawumi Jean Moss, storyteller, will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Plus, there will be visits from the Caterpillar and free cake and pizza.

Admission to the museum, the activities, and the food is free to the public and is provided by the generous sponsorship of Pearson.
