Eric Bischoff downplays Ring of Honor deal

With less than a month away, Ring of Honor wrestling will air its much-anticipated syndicated television show on the Sinclair Broadcasting Group stations.  Many have praised the coming of a different wrestling product to broadcast television but others in the industry have said that it’s not a big deal.

“I think people are kidding themselves,” says Eric Bischoff, Executive producer of TNA Wrestling who was recently interviewed on the TVTrax Internet show. Bischoff went on to explain that the Sinclair Broadcasting Group only has a 22% percent market penetration in the US  and it’s not enough to get the type of sponsors WWE or TNA have. Later in the interview he wished ROH the best of luck and said, “It’s a great thing because ROH has something.”

Though ROH Wrestling will air in San Antonio on September 24th on the CW 35, it will not be available on the nation’s top ten markets like New York City, Los Angeles or Houston, TX.
