New Baby? Get ready to hear the word swaddle! Experts say ‘All babies love being swaddled.’ Well, some do and some don’t. But, then there are those who NEED to be swaddled!
A sleeping baby is one of the best sights to see especially after a long day. But, there are a few babies who aren’t the most sound of sleepers. They toss and turn like adults do, the arms also go flying around and usually wake them up. This is called Reflex Motion. That means crying baby that is still tired and equals tired and frustrated parents. The baby never gets into the REM sleep that they need. (And, you so desperately need as well).
Swaddling a baby wraps their arms in tight against their body giving them a ‘womb like’ experience. There are many options on how to swaddle. You can use a basic blanket but we think it takes a lot of practice to really master it like the nurses in the hospital. So, there’s other products out there that make swaddling easier that wrap around the body and Velcro, but for babies that really squirm a lot…they somehow find a way out.
We recently got a chance to test from the makers of the popular baby carrier Ergobaby, their new Swaddler, they released on July 15, 2013. What we love about it is the easy to use design and the arm pockets which makes it impossible for your little one to escape. Plus, the large open area on the bottom that allows the hips to open out in a healthy froglike position. It’s made from a breathable cotton knit but warm enough to not need any additional blankets. To keep baby safe.
They come in 2 sizes: SM for babies 6-12lbs and M/L for 12-18lbs. It’s made with a beautiful soft material even after washes it stands up and comes in a natural neutral color, pink or blue.
