“A horse is a horse, of course, of course.” Can’t you just hear the Mr. Ed theme song? A horse may be a horse, but what is a zorse?
A zorse is a hybrid equine, which results from the breeding of a horse and a zebra. Zorses tend to be rare, and the breeding can be difficult to accomplish (at least, by live cover). Like other cross-species equine breedings, the zorse is sterile.
Equine breeders refer to the offspring of a male zebra and a female horse as a zorse. That of a female zebra and a male horse is called a hebra (or a horbra). The hebra is even rarer than the zorse.
