Have you ever seen a Jack, Jenny, John or Molly? Would you recognize them, if you saw them?

Equine enthusiasts and breeders can identify these four quite specifically. Here’s the key.

A Jack is an intact (uncastrated) male ass or donkey. A Jenny is a female ass or donkey; she might also be called a jennet. Both Jack and Jenny belong to the equine species known as equus asinus.

A John is a male mule. And a Molly is a female mule. Both John and Molly are donkey/horse crosses and would be considered infertile.
