Former Vice President Al Gore shared with Bloomberg Television that he and the Current TV Co-Founder Joel Hyatt tried to buy Twitter. They were in talks to buy the social network, but the deal never came to fruition. “Gore’s interest in purchasing Twitter was first reported by The New York Times' Nick Bilton in his just-released book "Hatching Twitter." The book details a “drunken scene at the St. Regis hotel in San Francisco in 2009, during which Gore met with Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone, pouring "copious amounts of wine and Patron tequila." Gore has other things to keep him busy, like that $500 million he pocketed after selling Current TV to Al Jazeera and also serving as a director for the Apple Fortune 500 board.
