EPIC FAIL: Jon Gosselin's lawyer gets banned from law for "professional misconduct"

That's Jon's lawyer, Mark Heller, on the left: Epic Fail, Mark.

What is an "Epic Fail"?  Why, it's when someone does something so hilariously misguided, so stupid, and so incredibly wrong that we, the audience, have no choice but to sit back and laugh at what's happened.  Usually, it's someone falling off a skateboard.  But did you know "Epic Fails" also apply to lawyers?  Lawyers of Jon Gosselin?  Read on, gentle Examiner readers...

OK, this is just awesome.

If you watched Jon Gosselin's much-publicized appearance on "Larry King Live" this past week (Read my writeup here) then you saw that Jon had himself a new lawyer.  This lawyer was such a shark, Richard Dreyfuss came into the studio and tried to shoot him with a harpoon gun while Roy Scheider stood by, screaming.  If you don't get that reference, I weep for you.

The greasy lawyer seemed to be the very definition of an "Ambulance Chaser", which is a fancy way of saying "sleazy lawyer".  I happen to have my own lawyer (gotta be sure I'm not gonna get myself sued, folks), and he refers to these kinds of law practitioners as "D-uche Bags".  I wasn't familiar with the term, but now I see it everywhere!

And it could certainly apply to Jon's lawyer.  According to this article over at Radar Online, Jon's lawyer-- Mark Heller-- was barred from practicing law for five years not so long ago.  Anyone who watched this shark at work on "Larry King Live" will probably not be surprised by this information.  Quoteth Radar Online:

Heller was admitted to the practice of law in New York in 1969. The case against him was brought in 1993 by the state's Judicial Department when he was charged with an astounding 38 violations of department rules regarding conduct.

The court found "a pattern of misconduct involving misrepresentation, deceit, abusive treatment of clients, fee gouging, neglect and willful failure to return unearned retainers to his clients."

Oh, man, this situation just never stops being funny.  The misguided antics of Jon Gosselin are a constant source of amusement at the Comedy Examiner's Office-- as frequent readers already know-- and for anyone that ever wonders what I'm doing covering this situation...this is why.  No one involved-- from the parents to the lawyers to the heads at TLC-- seems to have any idea how to behave in a way that isn't totally embarrassing.
