Sometimes, a simple read is a good thing. Who says that every book you read has to be complicated or thoroughly engaging on the brain to be good or enjoyable.

Her McRaidy Cheiftain is one of those really good reads that doesn't tax your mind, an enjoyable novella that entertains and pleases with just the right amount of spice to titilate the senses.

The story of Christiana and Liam, theirs is literally an illegal romance. Christiana is already betrothed to another man, a marriage of profit for her father. Liam is the laird of the McRaidy clan. An accident sends her over a cliff and a guilt ridden Liam takes her in--when he realizes she's still alive--and nurses her back to health. Of course, they fall in love and marry; but her father isn't happy about that at all. This puts Christiana in the middle as she tries to find some way that will end the feuding, to make sure that man and clan that she loves isn't destroyed.

Ms. Epe's style is romantic and slightly erotic, with a love story abounding but with just enough sexuality to put a bit of heat into the tale. There is good character development between the two as they grow closer to each other, and then fall deeply in love. The action is tense, in terms of the battle scenes, but not overly gory in the telling.

This is classic Barbara Cartland or Rosemary Rogers story telling, with an independent, sassy heroine and a manly, barechested Scot. No, we're not talking Romeo and Juliet or Sense and Sensability here, but we are talking an wonderfully enjoyable read that can be done before bedtime or on a rainy afternoon with a few cookies and a cup of hot tea. I definitely recommend it for romance readers looking for a new talent by an indie publisher.

The ebook and trade paperback can be purchased through the publisher's site or Amazon.com.  The trade paperback only can be purchased locally through Joseph-Beth Booksellers in the Lexington Green Mall.
