Wednesday, March 5, is the big day. It's the kick-off of the 2014 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Topiaries and flowers have been springing up all around the park in preparation for the annual event.
Click the video accompanying this article for a peek behind the construction walls as you join me on a private media tour. You'll get a small glimpse of what it takes to get everything ready for the festival and what some of the gardens look like before they open to the public.
This year's festival is packed with the ever-popular topiaries, including some with features that make them more lifelike than ever before. It also has colorful gardens, playgrounds, special merchandise, Flower Power concerts, and talks and displays in the Festival Center. Better yet, the popular food kiosks are returning after their triumphant debut in 2013.
All of the festival activities are included with your park admission ticket, so plan to spend a long, full day at the part if you're at Walt Disney World during the event. The only things that will cost extra are food and drinks at the kiosks and those cute little souvenirs that you just can't pass up.
If you'd like an idea of what some of the talks are like, jump to this article. It features Don Kendzior of the Audubon Society talking in the Hummingbirds at Home Garden. He'll appear in the garden throughout the festival and will also do scheduled talks in the Festival Center.
