Water Awareness Day, an upcoming environmental fair to be held on Torch Lake, will offer hands-on displays and activities, food, music and games for the entire family.

All are welcome at the educational fair, which is sponsored by the Three Lakes Association. The fair will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Alden Train Depot.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about protecting our local lakes, rivers, and streams,” said Leslie Meyers, Executive Director of the Three Lakes Association.

The public will be able to examine displays such as the fish shelters which are paced in local waters. There will be information about water topics such as invasive species, water bugs, and local water pollution issues.

The group expects an excellent turnout. “This is such a great chance to get to know your up north neighbors!” said Meyers.

A suggested $25 donation per family will support the educational efforts of Three Lakes Association, including the high school intern program and the Science Education Outreach Program (SEOP).

Walkins are welcome. For more information, please call 231-544-7221.
