Did you know that speaking is one of the most powerful and effective ways to promote your book? Long Beach offers plenty of opportunities to talk up your book … are you prepared to take advantage of them? If not, check out Entrepreneurial Authors Club, a Toastmasters club that launches tonight.
The club will use the Toastmasters International educational program to help writers and authors in Long Beach and the surrounding areas to improve their speaking and leadership skills, especially in relation to their books and writing.
"I want to give local writers and authors the opportunity to build speaking and leadership skills in a safe environment with like-minded entrepreneurs," said Carma Spence, Area E2 Governor for Toastmasters District One. "That's why I'm founding the Entrepreneurial Authors’ Club here in Long Beach."
This first meeting will be a sample of what future meetings can hold. Once the body of the meeting has been demonstrated, there will be time for questions and answers about the club and about Toastmasters International.
Highlights of the meeting include the opportunity for one or two attendees to practice their 30-60 second introduction and receive feedback from the group, as well as the prepared speech, Table Topics and evaluation portions of the meeting.
This won't be the first Toastmasters Club for writers in the Los Angeles Area. ToastWriters has been meeting in Santa Monica for a couple of years. "Toastwriters is an excellent club," said Spence, "however, that can be quite a trek if you live in the South Bay."
The club will meet at Rebel Bite in downtown Long Beach. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to grab a bite to eat.
After tonight's launch meeting, the club will meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
