Artistic talent or business success? Nearly 400 participants gathered in Greensboro, North Carolina on February 9, 2013 to explore the business side of art.
The theme of this year's Southern Entrepreneurship in the Arts Conference was straightforward: Connect. Collaborate. Create. The SEA's mission is to provide practical resources to help artists gain the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills needed to establish and maintain careers as independent artists.
The conference attracted aspiring and working artists, and students from the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) and many other institutions.
Keynote presenters included woodworking artist Roy Underhill, host of the long-running Public Broadcasting series The Woodwright's Shop and Dennis Quaintance, CEO of Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants & Hotels. Breakout sessions featured successful regional journalists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, sculptors, performing artists, legal and arts administrative professionals.
The Southern Entrepreneurship in the Arts Conference is sponsored by the University of North Carolina Greensboro's North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center.
