While reviewing websites for unique Christmas gift ideas, this Strange News examiner found a strange gift idea for anyone who can appreciate a challenging chess match. Although most readers have seen chess pieces made of metal or plastic, it’s unlikely they have ever seen taxidermy chess set.
The Curious 13 “Specializing in Strange” Etsy page offers a chess set with pieces made of dead mice. Each mouse is stuffed, mounted and ready to wage war against opposing mice. Each set includes 16 light colored mice and 16 dark colored ones.
Each mouse varies in size based on their strength. For instance, the smallest mice are pawns. The chessboard is also hand painted. On her listing, business owner R. Garcia says she buys the mice from a breeding facility.
Instead of becoming snake food, these furry critters could be in your home providing hours of entertaining fun. The page says orders require 30 days to complete and dry before shipping. The site doesn’t say anything about how the family cat or dog will react.
