In the spotlight this weekend is 2002-2008’s award winning and groundbreaking ‘The Shield.’ Starring Michael Chiklis and Walton Goggins alongside a stellar cast in Shawn Ryan’s tour de force about a gang fighting police squad called “The Strike Team.” Led by Detective Vic. Mackeye (Chiklis), the Strike Team is comprised of a highly skilled and temperamental unit that is often times as guilty of illicit activities as the criminals it interacts with. The drama also dives into the, just as tumultuous as the job, personal lives of Mackey and some of the other members of his squad.
If nothing else, this show is worth taking a look at to see why Chiklis has been type-cast as the “bad cop,” as his performance here definitely warrants it.
The action and drama are both highly engrossing, with internal conflicts abound, and intricate plots that range from the first episode to the last.
Speaking of, the series’ conclusion is a very fitting end and leaves you just as satisfied as ‘Breaking Bad’s’ (but on the opposite end of the spectrum).
