Millions of television audiences were thrilled and sometimes frightened by Rod Serling’s iconic sci-fi series “The Twilight Zone.” Now, Falcon Theatre audiences will have the opportunity to add laughter to the chills when they present Impro Theatre’s “Twilight Zone Unscripted.” Co-directed by Jo McGinley and Stephen Kearin, this show is the first production of the Falcon Theatre’s 2013-2014 subscription season.
Impro Theatre’s critically acclaimed, award-winning ensemble of improvisers travel through a dimension of pure imagination as they create completely new, completely unscripted, and completely hilarious episodes at each performance.
From the darkest corners of reality to the realm of the unexplained, Impro Theatre's “Twilight Zone Unscripted” pays homage to Serling's series as the cast creates completely improvised episodes in the style of the classic TV show on the spot, right before the audience’s eyes. The performers have absolutely no idea what will occur, and no two episodes are ever the same. Once they receive a suggestion from the audience, the lights will go out, the theme music will begin, and they will enter an unexplored domain- a dimension known only as ... “The Twilight Zone...Unscripted.”
Impro Theatre creates completely improvised, full-length plays in the styles of the world’s greatest playwrights and authors. With absolutely no pre-planning or prepared scenarios, the performers combine verbal dexterity and robust physicality to bring character and plot to life in an instant, making each Impro Theatre show utterly unique and unlike any other theatrical experience. At each performance, an entirely new show is brought into existence- never before seen, and never to be seen again. Impro Theatre has been widely critically acclaimed and has received many awards, including being named one of L.A.Weekly’s “Top 10 Theatre Companies,” a 4-star rating from Los Angeles Times readers, the “Roar of the Crowd” award from Goldstar.com, numerous StageSceneLA awards, numerous “Pick of the Week” reviews from LA Weekly, and numerous “Critics Choice” reviews from the Los Angeles Times.
They have played to wildly enthusiastic, sold-out crowds at many prestigious venues including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, the Carrie Hamilton Theatre at the Pasadena Playhouse, the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago, North Coast Repertory in San Diego, The Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, The Bayfront Theatre in San Francisco, The Melbourne Fringe in Australia and Theatre Adyar in Paris.
