February is a time when we turn our focus toward appreciating our sweethearts. One way to show your love for your spouse is to attend a marriage conference with him or her to rekindle the flame between the two of you. A couple marriage conference options are available in the Phoenix area this month.
Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, author of “Love & Respect,” will present a Love and Respect Conference Feb. 10-11, 2012, at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria. This conference focuses on the differences between men and women and on the different needs for each sex. Men need respect, and women need love. When neither party is getting that need met, they get stuck in what Eggerichs calls the “crazy cycle.” He points out how to get out of that cycle and get into the “rewarded cycle.”
Conference topics include finding each other’s strengths, understanding the heart of your spouse, understanding femininity and masculinity, the secret that cracks the communication code between husbands and wives, what your spouse really means by what he or she says, and your spouse isn’t wrong, just different. Check out a preview here.
The cost is $90 per couple, and the conference takes place Friday, Feb. 10, from 6:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Click here to register. Childcare is not provided for this conference, and infants and children are not allowed in the sessions.
On Feb. 17-18, 2012, Redemption Church and Mission Community Church bring you Real Marriage 2012. This conference is so popular that the main auditorium is already sold out. However, the hosting facility—Mission Community Church in Gilbert—has added overflow seating in an on-site, 400-seat auditorium through a live video feed and three movie screens.
Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Wash., will present “the truth about sex, friendship, and life together,” based on his “Real Marriage” book, which was released in December. Topics covered at the conference include dating your spouse, how to be friends in marriage, and “taking out the trash.”
The cost is $70 per couple for sessions running from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 18. Click here to register.
If you and your spouse aren’t able to attend either of these events, you can enrich your marriage through the respective “Love & Respect” or “Real Marriage” books on which these conferences are based.
