Enough is enough…petition to end Denver pit bull ban

The city of Denver has led the country for years in one of history’s cruelest pit bull bans. The ban is based on “two incidents that occurred twenty two years ago.”

A group called Team Pit-a-Full has organized an effort with a Facebook page and petition to end the Denver ban and hopefully bring awareness so that other communities realize that pit bull bans do not work.

The group’s mission calls for all rescued dogs to ‘be well behaved and set the standard for social ability’ and ‘act as ambassadors to their breed; demonstrating friendliness, comradery, loyalty and love for people and other animals.’

This group endeavors to ‘Lobby for Generalized Dangerous Dog Ordinances (GDDO) that base prosecution and consequences on individual behavior vs. breed or appearance, and holds irresponsible owners liable for the actions of their dog.’

They ultimately wish to ‘persuade legislator to instill more stringent penalties for animal abusers, dog fighters, those who cage or tether their dog for prolonged amounts of time, backyard breeders, and those who neglect their dog by denying healthy food, clean water, adequate shelter, exercise, socialization, and veterinary care.’

The petition will be submitted not only to the city of Denver, “but also the Denver Post, Westword News, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and every other major news publication in the U.S.”

Please take a minute to sign this important petition. Please remember the 3,497 innocent family pets murdered by the city of Denver.
