After a short two season, HBO has chosen to drop the half-hour dramedy, “Enlightened.”
Mike White and Laura Dern, who also starred in the series, created “Enlightened.”
HBO said this about not bringing the show back for a third season:
It was a very difficult decision. We’ve decided not to continue “Enlightened” for a third season. We’re proud of the show and we look forward to working with Mike White and Laura Dern in the future.
“Enlightened” focused on the life of Amy Jellicoe (Dern), who is a self-destructive executive. After her professional life falls apart and she has an “aha” moment in rehabilitation, she attempts to bring her life back together.
The show saw a growth in ratings during the second season, with 300,000 viewers. The debut saw 210,000. The series hit bottom with 130,000 viewers one week before the strong finale, which bumped the numbers up to 200,000.
