For many Calgary families, Valentine's Day does not mean roses and candy and special nights out alone. Rather, it entails filling out numerous Valentine's cards for school, finding something red for the kids to dress in and making goodies. Rarely is there time left for the parents to enjoy a night out. Instead of trying for a 'couple's night out' include your children into the Valentine's Day festivities.
- Telus Spark has Nature Unleashed playing on February 14. This traveling exhibit showcases many of Nature's wonders from volcanoes and hurricanes, to tornadoes and earthquakes. Be sure to visit the Telus Spark website for more details.
- Heritage Park Family Quest runs from February 13-17 at the Gasoline Alley Museum. The entire family can get involved with 5 hands-on challenges available on-site! This year it is a Classic Hollywood Theme and you can win an Oscar when all your challenges are completed. Visit the Heritage Park website for more information.
- Make the day fun! Have everyone dress up in red/pink/white clothes and serve only Valentine's Day colored foods for meals. Spaghetti, tomato soup and apples are great Valentine's Day choices for the table on this special day! Get your kids involved and everyone is sure to have a great day enjoying each other's company.
No matter what you do this Valentine's Day remember that your kids are the love of your life! Enjoy them and show them how much they mean to you each and every day of the year.
