Traveling to the Central Coast? Perhaps you want to consider escaping to Santa Barbara County during the Taste of Solvang weekend. Solvang will experience their own March Madness from March 13th – March 17th as the town opens their doors to this yearly event.
You will be able to taste locally grown foods, delectable cuisines both with a Danish flair and a contemporary influence as well as locally produced wines especially since this is in the heart of Santa Barbara County wine country. Taste of Solvang in its 21st year celebrates the cultural and culinary heritage of the area.
On March 13th the event begins at the Farmers Market where one can accompany one of three chefs on a walk and talk through the market. You can either meet with Chef David Cecchini, Cecco Restorante, Chef Norbert Schutz, Mirabelle Restaurant or Chef Heather Hovey, Hadsten House Inn & Restaurant.
On Friday, March 15, 2013 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. the weekend fun begins with the Dessert Reception and Contest. Solvang is known for wonderful bakeries and pastries. What better way to discover some of these yummy treats than to attend this reception while sipping a glass of local wine.
Want to find out who are the best amateur and professional dessert maker in the area. This year’s reception debuts a new contest, the best amateur and professional dessert maker in the area. Now there will be three awards: Best Dessert Amateur, Best Dessert Professional and Best Dessert People’s Choice.
Saturday, March 16th features the Walking Smorgaasbord from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be 40 taste stops around Solvang with samples of Danish, American and international cuisines.
Later that same day enjoy the Wine & Beer Tasting Walk from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. offering 13 stops throughout Solvang. The Wine & Beer Tasting Walk continues on Sunday, March 17th from noon – 4:00 p.m.
The wine tasting stops include: Carivintas Winery, Casa Cassara, Dascomb Cellars, Lions Peak Vineyard & Winery, Lucas & Lewellen, Olive House, Presidio Vineyard & Winery, Randy’s Taproom, SevTap Winery, Sort This Out Cellars, Toccata, Valley Vino and Wandering Dog Wine Bar.
