Ponzi Vineyards has more than a tasting room. Ponzi is a destination for wine tasting and dining in the little town of Dundee, Oregon just a half hour south of Portland. Ponzi Vineyards was established in 1970 and produce some well-known wines... Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and White Riesling, as well as Arneis and Dolcetto, two rare Italian varietals.
But the fun is in going to their wine bar just off Hwy 99 in the heart of the Dundee Hills wine country. Not only can you sample Ponzi wines, you'll be treated to some finds from small vineyards in the Oregon Wine Country.
Rotating, specially selected flights of wine are available, as well as wine by-the-glass, bottle or case. Guest winemakers are featured throughout the summer.
And, for your friends who are not into wine (we all have them) Ponzi offers microbrews on draught, Italian coffee, appetizers and wine country advice.
The day we visited, we shared two of their flights, having just half a tasting glass each per wine. It worked out well and the staff was very willing to oblige. The staff and clientele was friendly and offered advice on purchasing local wines.
What we enjoyed most about the Ponzi Wine Bar was that we were able to taste wines from very small vineyards that did not have their own tasting room. Needless to say with all the tastes and advice, we opted to purchase a few bottles for our wine collections.
The Ponzi Wine Bar features wines from over 150 top Oregon vintners and is open daily from 11:00 a.m. - 5 p.m. Next door is a full-service Bistro and gift shop.
