Today was a holiday. A lot of people may not have known that, in fact I didn't know it. Today was International Bacon Day, a food holiday which must have been created by a bacon lover extraordinaire who dared to pair his bacon with common delights such as chocolate cupcakes and jelly or jam. Some would find those combinations to be quite disgusting, but others find them to be divine. I tend to find delight in simple pleasures rather than the unorthodox, but I'm quite sure my kids enjoyed International Bacon Day to the fullest extent of the law on their individual college campuses today.
I guess we can that this strange holiday marked the end of summer vacation and the start of the school year. Everyone won't typically start school on the same day but the time frame for all the students are similar. Some are happy to be going back to school and some are not. Regardless of that it is time for that oh so relentless schedule to be put back in place. The one that has your kids up in the morning at 7 a.m. and in bed by 9 p.m. so they can get the proper amount of rest! It doesn't always work out that way but who can fault them for trying so hard to stick to that darn schedule. The best thing we can say about the start of the new school year is that its finally here and the children are one year older and one year smarter, right? They will do great things this year, so enjoy your family and it will be the best school year they ever had, I'm just saying!
