Enjoy Today

I am guilty of always focusing or mostly daydreaming about the future to the point where I am not acting in the present.  Tasks may be left incomplete because I am constantly creating a list of how things will be months or years down the road.  Speaking with friends and random people around town, I now know that I am not the only one who does this.  There are plenty of us out there who are not enjoying the present.  We are forfeiting our right to enjoy some great moments NOW!

The Lord wants us to appreciate what he has done for us and is doing for us presently.  Only He knows what the future brings.  From the rising of the sun, we should be rejoicing in the fact that we are able to see another day.  Whether that day is good or bad is of no concern because, it is yet another day that the Lord is blessing us or carrying us through a trial so that He can refine us like the potter that He is. Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  Do not let your faith be shaken by the things of the world because whatever The Father has for you, it is for you.

When the Lord sees that we are thankful for the little things and the moments He is giving us today, He will bless us with more in the future. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).  The scripture specifically states, “This is the day.”  We need to make our actions more purposeful and less reactive.  We need to purposefully wake up with the intentions to savor every moment of our days, our lives.  In this time we can appreciate our family, friends, and the random acts of kindness that we experience or witness.  Start off with your gratitude list.  What are you thankful for?  Say it out loud to Him every morning, before you begin your day.  And make it your daily goal to enjoy each and every day because once it is gone, you can’t get it back.
