The Southern Spring Show is here this weekend, filled with fragrant plants, inspiring scenes, and great garden and home items to purchase. This year's theme is "Hollywood and Vine".
Liberty Hall features twenty five creative landscapes. Be sure to check out the following scenes:
- The Last of the Mohicans (#14): The students of Western Piedmont Community College built a log cabin using only tools available in the 18th century, and planted the garden using only plants available during the same period. The students harvested, sawed and assembled the logs to fashion a small cabin, railings and a water stream.
- The Outsiders (#15, 16, 17): All of the wood used in this garden is recycled. The stage includes an outdoor movie theater scene, including an outdoor screen and vintage vehicles.
The Garden Stage will open at 11:30 with Barbara Damrosch, author of The Garden Primer and The Four Season Farm Gardener's Cookbook. The cooking stage will open at 11:00 am with Heidi Billotto on The Joy of Cooking with Herbs. For a complete schedule of stages and presentations, see the events schedule.
Don't forget to check out the vendor sales and coupons. Show offers and discount coupons are listed for a number of vendor and can be printed for use at the show. Show hours today will be 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is $10 at the door, but discount tickets can be purchased at Harris Teeter for $7.50.
