Albany is lucky to be surrounded by so many great parks. One in particular, John Boyd Thacher Park is nearby and offers excellent trails for hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Located just 15 miles southwest of Albany, the woodland trails are lined with limestone cliffs, waterfalls, and views of both the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park is great for people of all ages and all fitness levels.
For winter fun, the park leads many programs including snowshoe walks, ice fishing contests, preschool programs, and many others at the Thacher Nature Center.
