With the weather forecasted to be above average in San Diego County in January, there are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed. Make the short drive to Lakeside from anywhere in San Diego County and enjoy the outdoor activities that the city has to offer.
Some of these activities that are available are the parks and trails that Lakeside has to offer. Lakeside also offers a great golf course at Barona Casino if you are looking to hit the greens.
Barona Creek Golf Course
Barona Casino offers an award winning golf course. It is set in one of the prettiest landscapes of San Diego County. Barona Creek Golf Course looks out to the foothills that surround the area. It makes for a perfect and relaxing day of golf. They offer five different types of courses from the beginner to the expert golfer. The course is designed with 100 bunkers and natural obstacles that give it the championship design. With the golf carts including a GPS system and of course the friendly staff of Barona Creek Golf Course, will offer each golfer a great and unique experience.

Please remember that there is a dress code at the Barona Creek Golf Course. Soft spikes are required. No denim allowed.
Lindo Lake Park
Lindo Lake Park is one of the best parks in San Diego County. It is located at 12660 Lindo Park Lane(right off of Woodside Ave) It offers many activities for all too enjoy. There is a 1.5 mile trail that wraps around the lake. It is pretty walk around the lake. It is also leveled out enough to push a stroller through.
Plan on spending a day there. There are also several picnic areas, play areas for kids, a fitness area and fishing available. The Lakeside Community Center and the Lakeside Branch Library are also located by Lindo Lake Park.
Dogs are allowed at Lindo Lake Park. Please remember to pick up after them.
Cactus County Park
Another great park in Lakeside is Cactus Park. It is located at 10610 Ashwood. This is a unique park as it offers a BMX racing track and a radio controlled model airplane strip. The BMX racing track is leased out. Please call 619-561-3824 for more information on the track. With the weather and the winds being nice, it would make an exciting day to watch the radio controlled airplanes up in the sky.
At Cactus Park there is a one mile track for those who want to walk/run it, picnic areas, a play area for the kids, and a ball field. This park offers many things to do as it is set in almost 60 acres.
Lake Jennings
Lake Jennings is a getaway within our own backyard. Lake Jennings is located at 10108 Bass Road. Camping, fishing, and picnicking are available at Lake Jennings.
The picnic areas are surrounded by mountains and offer incredible views of the lake. There is also a chance that you can glimpse some of the wildlife that is around there. This is a great place to come and spend the day and get “lost” with the beautiful surroundings.
Camping and fishing are also available at Lake Jennings. Camping reservations must be made online at http://www.lakejennings.org/camping/reservations.htm. The campground offers tent and full hook-up sites.
Fishing is available at the lake 7 days a week. There is several varieties of fish that can be found in the lake. In 2005 a Poway, CA resident made the record for the largest Largemouth Bass out of the lake, and in 2004, a 68lb Blue Catfish was pulled out of the lake.
Remember state fishing licenses are required to fish out of the lake, and are not available for purchase from Lake Jennings. These must be obtained before coming to the lake to fish.
