Enjoy an evening under the stars with Tammerlin at Night Sounds at Sebastian Inlet State Park Concert Series. The folk/roots duo, Lee Hunter and Arvid Smith, are Tammerlin. They describe their style of music as a "little bit folk, pop, country, old time, British Isles and blues - with some world music flavorings." Their original, traditional tunes are pulled from the roots of American music.
Let the seaside sounds blend with the music at the the pavilion on Coconut Point on the south side of Sebastian Inlet overlooking the water. Tammerlin is celebrating 20 years of making music during which they've released five CD's of original songs and traditional tunes.
Lee Hunter writes much of Tammerlin's original material. Besides writing, Lee plays rhythm guitar and sings in a voice that one Florida music magazine referred to as "haunting, passionate, and powerful." Avrid Smith was called "a wizard on the silver strings" by Britain's New Musical Express. As a finger-stylist he plays slide on acoustic, electric six and twelve string, lap steel, melobar and Dobro.
The duo describes their music as something that is never stagnant, but doesn't abandon the place from where it was born. “It’s all about evolution,” Hunter says. “Music has never stayed in one place and it’s not going to. Lots of people are doing what we’re doing, but in different ways. We’re taking traditional music and writing inspired by the tradition as well, to a new place, with our own voices and vocabulary and experience, but always with respect for where it came from.”
Plan a relaxing evening under the stars listening to this creative, talented duo as they entertain park guests with their music. The event is free, but park entry fees apply. Tammerlin will take the stage from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013. For more information about Sebastian Inlet State Park visit the park website.
