The fifth annual New Noise Music Conference and Festival is being held from October 17th through the 19th in Santa Barbara. The event taking place in venues up and down State Street and in the Funk Zone features more than 50 bands and eight lectures over three fun-filled and informative days.
The festival has the reputation for bringing some of the best new music to Santa Barbara every fall. Where else can you hear everything from blues to punk in one weekend? Among the artists performing during the nightly concerts (and all day Saturday), you can catch Haim, The Blues and Greys, The Soft White Sixties, He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister, Holy Ghost!, Andrew W.K. and Freakin' On Speakers.
An all-day music conference runs on Friday, October 18th with this year’s focus being on dealing with the new realities and opportunities of a musical career. Experts share their advice and experience on the constantly evolving music business scene and how to best position yourself to answer the new challenges presented.
To add to the community atmosphere, the annual Pianos on State experience is also set to kick off. Pianos are set daily in strategic positions around State Street and in the Funk Zone for the public to play. Everyone has the chance to sit down and give it their best—much to the joy of locals and tourists alike. In years past, it was not unusual to see festival artists join in the fun with spontaneous block parties adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Tickets and badges are on sale now at the festival’s website. There are various ticket packages still available, including VIP packages for under $50. If you are a music lover, this is one event you do not want to miss!
