The most British spot in the DFW Metroplex is at the British Emporium (BE) in Grapevine. In honor of the 2012 London Olympics the Emporium is giving away British goodies to the first 100 customers this Saturday, August 4th, beginning at 10 a.m. A $10 purchase is required and the offer is limited to one goodie bag per family. So grab some bangers, biscuits, English preserves, Proper Bacon, a Branston Pickle or two and top things off with HP sauce while you dive into the Olympics. The Goodie Bags contain British tea, treats and yummy snacks. Complimentary British tea should hit the spot and will be offered from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
According to the witty bright-eyed storeowner Sheela Kadam, "There's been a great deal of interest in all things British this week, and we've had many visitors who are interested in trying the foods of London, and seeking items for Olympic-themed parties. We're all cheering for our favorite teams and send our congratulations and best wishes to all the Olympian athletes in London."
The award-winning British Emporium is not only a great place to shop and explore it is also a community meeting place for expatriate Britons and anglophiles alike. Sheela is known around the metroplex for her imaginative and fun loving parties, cultural events, car shows and for hosting VIP visitors and celebrities. BE also carries South African products and East Indian imports including Ouma Rusks, Five Roses Tea, Rooibos Tea, Milo, ProNutro and Romany Creams. Sheela recommends serving Mrs. Balls Chutney and Tennis Biscuits during soccer, volleyball and tennis matches. Also Ingram's Camphor Cream is just the thing to sooth tired couch potato muscles! Her very British store has been an English outpost since 1992.
