Celebrate the Year of the Tiger while enjoying the annual Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco on Saturday, February 27. The largest celebration of Asian culture in this country, the parade begins at 5:15pm at Market and Second Street and continues through Chinatown. The parade includes floats, dancers, music, acrobats and other performing artists as well as the mandatory lion dancers and Golden dragon. Bleacher seats are available for $30.
Before the parade, enjoy the Chinatown Community Street Fair for more Chinese performances including dance, music and martial arts, puppet shows, food and 150 booths. This year, the fair features “Shanghai Street” where artisans demonstrate and display old Chinese art forms.
To avoid traffic and parking hassles, consider taking public transportation.
