Malibu Wines weekend concerts are a great way to savor the last drops of summer this September. Every Saturday and Sunday this month the winery hosts live bands at its outdoor stage, where guests are encouraged to dine, drink, and dance the afternoon away.
The winery itself exudes California charm, set in a backdrop of rolling hills patterned in crops, and framed by old orchard trees hung with glowing strings of lights. The wine tasting area has two main outdoor bars where bottles of wine can be purchased and enjoyed on the premises. Guests are encouraged to bring picnics to enjoy on the umbrella-shaded tables or sprawling lawn. An antique pickup truck completes the image of an older, quainter California.
On Saturdays and Sundays the first band starts at 12pm, the next at 3pm, and a final band starts at 7pm and continues on into the evening. The evening acts tend to be rock cover bands, drawing many of the guests out of their seats to dance. While this event has traditionally tapped the baby-boomer crowd, younger people looking to get away from the beach and bar scene frequently turn up with their picnic baskets.
No outside alcohol is permitted. There is no entrance fee, but guests must buy one bottle of wine (per group of 4 or fewer). Picnic food is encouraged. Guests must be 21+. No children, infants or pets.
Malibu Wines is located at 31740 Mulholland Highway, Malibu, CA, United States, 90265. Valet parking is available for $14/car and there is a complimentary shuttle service. There is no parking on Mulholland Highway.
