Back in August 2010, Omni Hotels & Resorts purchased the iconic property now known as the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. Located just 29 miles north of Jacksonville, Omni Amelia Island Plantation is a world-class resort featuring fine dining, golf, and upscale accommodations. Since 2010, Omni renovated the resort with approximately 125 new rooms/suites and a 16,000 square foot ballroom. In all, the renovation cost $85 million and has effectively brought Omni Amelia Island Plantation back to its former glory. The resort is set on 1,350 acres and features 404 oceanfront rooms/suites, nine different dining options, a pool deck larger than any in Northeast Florida, an adults-only infinity pool, a family pool with a splash area for kids, and "Har-Tru" tennis courts. Of course, the resort is also known for its expansive golf options, which feature 54 championship holes.
For the fall season, Omni Amelia Island Plantation is featuring the Authentic Amelia package. Pricing starts at $409 per night and the package runs from now until November 30, 2013. Guests can book the package now through November 1, 2013. To book reservations, call 1-800-The-Omni or go to the Omni Amelia Island Plantation website at this link. Authentic Amelia accentuates the culinary experience at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. As soon as guests arrive, they will receive a welcome basket filled with snacks grown locally in the Jacksonville area. Next, the package includes a trip to a nearby farm with Omni Amelia Island Plantation Executive Chef Daven Wardynski. Patrons will learn how Daven puts together the top-notch menu at the resort by working with local farmers like Sweet Grass Dairy, Flat Creek Cheese, Twin Bridges, and White Oak Pasture.
The escape continues with a four-hour private fishing charter hosted by Amelia Island Angler Outfitters, where guests will fish for red fish, flounder, sea trout and other salt water fish. Upon their return, patrons will enjoy a seven-course dinner prepared by Chef Daven with wine pairings. The meal will feature fish from the fishing expedition, along with ingredients from the farm the guests visited earlier in the day. In this way, the Authentic Amelia experience gives foodies an authentic locally sourced "farm-to-table" and "docks-to-dish" experience.
