Enjoy a special New Year's Eve salute to Marvin Hamlisch on PBS

If you have decided to stay at home to ring in the New Year this evening but still would like to have a touch of theater, then check your local PBS station listings for “One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch.” This televised event will be a salute to the composer who passed away earlier this year.

The actual concert will take place at Avery Fisher Hall on December 31 at 7:30 p.m. For those interested in attending this New York event, consult the New York Philharmonic website or the Avery Fisher box office.

The concert will be telecast nationally on the series “Live From Lincoln Center” on PBS stations beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST. Check local listings for more information. Broadway star Audra McDonald will host the event. Ms. McDonald is also listed as a vocalist for the event.

The New York Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by many friends and collaborators of Marvin Hamlisch including Joshua Bell, Raul Esparze, Michael Feinstein, Maria Friedman, Josh Groban, Megan Hilty, Kelli O’Hara, Beth Behrs, Lilla Crawford and Brian d’Arcy James. Paul Gemignani will conduct the orchestra and Lonny Price will direct the performance.

Audiences can expect to hear offerings from Mr. Hamlisch’s repertoire from stage and film including the always popular show “A Chorus Line.”
