Families visiting the Allendale Community Park and Splash Pad on Wednesdays are stretching their visit by taking advantage of a free lunch for their kids! The brown bad lunch is provided on Wednesday, August 24th and Wednesday, August 31st. These free lunches are compliments of area churches, which supply the food and volunteer labor to pack and distribute the lunches. Kids will find a sandwich, string cheese, an apple, cookies, a toy and a pencil in their brown bag lunch. Bottled water is also provided for the children.
The churches pack 60 lunches for each Wednesday to be distributed to the children. During a meeting of area pastors, it was recognized that during the summer, some children would miss both the free breakfast and the free lunch supplied through the schools. They decided to take on the challenge and try to fill the gap by offering a free lunch in the park.
What a great way for your set of twins, triplets, quadruplets, or higher order multiples to enjoy a day of fun at the park and splash pad and enjoy a free lunch as well!
Friends of the Park, through the Allendale Community Foundation, are raising funds to expand and improve the Splash Pad in the Allendale Community Park. Check out these photos and ways that you can help in their effort!
