Englishman Amir Khan will outlast Puerto Rican Luis Collazo

Meeting on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s match versus Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan will throw fists with tough Puerto Rican Luis Collazo on May 3 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 26-year-old Khan (28-3, 19 KOs), who became one of the most youthful British world champs ever at the age of 22, most recently exited the squared circle in April 2013 after outscoring Mexican Julio Diaz.

Flattened by a left hook in the fourth and staggered by the same blow in the eighth, 10th and 11th rounds, Khan was lucky to escape without losing to Diaz (40-9-1, 29 KOs).

Numerous onlookers and insiders believed that Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) would scrap the 36-year-old Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs) this spring.

However, Mayweather instead decided to battle Marcos Maidana.

Comparatively, the 32-year-old Collazo (35-5, 18 KOs) knocked Victor Ortiz onto Queer Street in January.

Collazo, who has fought solid pugilists Andre Berto, Shane Mosley and Ricky Hatton, is a tricky southpaw who can cause any opponent trouble.

Plus, “King Khan” is nothing more than an overrated chandelier.

Regardless, despite what will be 13 months of inactivity, Khan should trump Collazo.

Ultimately, in a somewhat seesaw affair, expect Amir Khan to earn a late round stoppage over Luis Collazo roughly five weeks from tonight.
