In Pennsylvania, an English teacher has been arrested and is facing up to seven years in prison. She has been accused of institutional sexual assault after she allegedly sent an 18 year-old student graphic texts and performing an alleged sex act on him inside her classroom.

Emily Nesbit, English teacher at Cumberland Valley High School allegedly had a sexual act with a student and even though that student was of legal age, it is considered an illegal act because it violates the teacher-student relationship.

According to school officials, Nesbit was texting the student frequently and describing to him the desires she had. She would also send him racy selfies, pictures of her. A student who heard about one of the sexually charged communications between the student and Nesbit contacted authorities.

Nesbit’s attorney, Brian Perry stated that his client “committed a series of bad decisions at a low point in her life.” Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed stated, “Frankly, we’ve had too many of these cases involving school employees. There’s nothing more important for our youth than how we educate them and put them out into the world.”
