English Harbour Aged Rum from Antigua

An iconic rum of the Caribbean, Antigua Distillery's English Harbour Aged Rum is a full flavored and smooth five year old spirit.

Among many awards, this rum received a Double Gold Medal Award for two consecutive years in the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The rum is distilled in a unique copper column still at English Harbour, Antigua, producing a very clean and pure distillate which is aged in small oaken barrels for at least five years. After maturing, various marques are expertly blended to produce a very complex, rich and flavorful 80 proof rum which is quite accessible.

A light copper hue and medium viscosity suggest the spirit has rested in oak for at least five years. Initial aromas of cream sherry are balanced with dried fruit, butter and oak. Sweet caramel on the palate leads to tropical tones of coconut, pear and cinnamon, baking spices and smoky oak. The finish is smooth with a touch of sweetness, with a medium long fade.

On balance, English Harbour Five Year Old Aged Rum is a fine sipper, comparing to rums of greater age in complexity and mature bouquet. The rum brings bold flavors to cocktails that demand a classic Caribbean rum profile in the recipe.

Antigua Distillery was formed in 1932 when several rum manufacturers combined their businesses. They soon began to produce their own unique Muscovado sugar and molasses, as well as light un-aged rum. By 1950, their full bodied Caballero Muscovado Rum was gaining great popularity. In the 1960s, a change to lighter bodied rums lead to Cavalier Antigua Rum. Today, Antigua Distillery is one of the Caribbean's lading distillers of high quality rum and other spirits, including Cavalier and Antigua Bay rum brands, Rusian Vodka, Cavalier Gin, Koto Caribe and Oasis Water.
