Earlier today, anime publisher Sentai Filmworks confirmed that it has acquired the comedy series “Engaged to the Unidentified” for release in North America later this year.

Based on the four-panel comic strip manga by Cherry-Arai, “Engaged to the Unidentified” is a 12-episode anime series produced by the anime studio Dogakobo and directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara. The series features character designs by Ai Kikuchi, series composition by Fumihiko Shimo (Clannad), music from Jun Ichikawa and sound direction by Kazuzou Hamano (Shin Koihime Muso: Otome Tairan).

“Engaged to the Unidentified” follows Kobeni, a normal girl living with her freewheeling mother and Benio, her eccentric older sister, who has her life turned upside down when on her 16th birthday a boy named Hakuya, claiming to be Kobeni’s fiance, and his little sister move in. Kobeni doesn’t have memories of her childhood due to an accident when she was a child, but as she spends time around her fiance, she begins to recover some of those memories and she is starting to suspect that Hakuya is actually a dog that saved her life on the day of the accident.

Anime fans can look for “Engaged to the Unidentified” through digital outlets soon and a home video release from Sentai Filmworks is expected to follow later this year.
