Speak the word Vampire and most of us visualize a clocked figure, sucking a human’s blood in a Transylvanian dark alley. Some will even picture the handsome Edward played by Robert Pattinson in the Twilight movies. But real energy vampires are nothing of the sort and you might even know one right now.
Who are they? The insecure or jealous neighbors, the Drama Queens, Whiners, and Bullies…you get the picture. These people create conflict because they can not keep their energy level up on their own. Energy vampires need to feed off the energy of others to make them feel better.
The common term ‘energy vampire’ refers to people that use their influences to leave another person feeling exhausted, unfocused or depressed. Vampirism simply implies a taking of something with nothing beneficial offered in return; which these people do consciously or unconsciously.
Here’s what’s happing: We all are energy and our energy is constantly being exchanged with the world around us. People, animals and plants for example, are constantly radiating good or bad energy outward and then receiving them inward as they engage with others. This is the natural cycle that happens every day.
So how can you protect yourself from an Energy Vampire? First, realize what is happening and stay calm. The more agitated you become, the more energy you will expel. They will feed off of this energy making you become completely drained when they finally walk away.
You can also protect yourself by putting up an invisible barrier around your body so they can not tap into your energy force. Just visualize a protective white light around you, like a large plastic bubble surrounding your entire body. Remember that your energy radiates; make the bubble encase you a few inches way from your physical body.
The bubble that you have now created will help bounce off the negative influences and they will dissipate. You will still engage with others as you normally do but you won't feel so drained anymore. You've just created your buffer zone.
So next time your nosy neighbor calls, just be polite and put up your bubble as she talks; No one needs to know what you’re doing. Excuse yourself as quickly as you can and get back to your day. You’ll find you have more energy to do the things you like to do.
