Lone Star Corporate College will host the Lone Star College Networking Lunch Series’ professional development seminar, “Understanding Energy: Oil, Natural Gas and Transportation” on Friday, February 10.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lone Star Community Building at 5000 Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands.
This non-technical seminar is geared toward persons interested in learning energy industry background and includes new hires to the energy industry and non-technical energy company employees. The event will also explore the energy industry from a geopolitical and economic viewpoint and could be a valuable tool for technical energy company employees who want to explore their industry perspective.
Attendees not only will learn how the U.S. fits into the world energy picture, but get an overview of drilling, production and refining processes. The basics of gasoline price fluctuation, an explanation of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the debate between shale gas and hydraulic fracking, and oil geology and extraction will be covered during the discussion.
Presenter, Karen Oganowski, has 25 years experience with General Electric Co. She has served as a consultant for several major oil companies and is affiliated with the Executive Service Corps of Houston as a consultant for structuring information technology projects for non-profits organizations. Oganowski has also worked with the World Affairs Council of Houston and serves as Master Docent of Wiess Energy Hall in the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
