People sometimes refer to energy as being ‘positive’ or ‘negative, ‘good’ or ‘bad, or even ‘evil’ - some horrible thing outside of us from which we must protect ourselves. That is judgment. Some energy we may not want, or may not appreciate, but our assessment of it does not change the fact that it is only our limited perspective that labels it so.
As we practice the System of Reiki, it is important that we release any bias’ we have, and recognize that personal judgments of what we encounter (i.e., this energy is bad, this energy is blocked, this energy is weak) come from our mind - our ego - trying to manage, quantify and make sense of a process that does not require our assistance - only our intent. It is Rei-ki, after all.
"When we do Reiki healing, that means we are at one with the universe, and there is no duality, there is no good, no bad. So, as long as we resonate with the universe, there is no opposite, such as good or bad. All good, so we don’t have to worry about protecting ourselves when we offer Reiki healing." - Hiroshi Doi
