This week, there are quite a few items of YA Fics & Flicks news to discuss, so to keep it short and sweet, here's a run-down of the latest!
First of all, Summit Entertainment announced today that it'll be hosting an "Ender's Game" panel at Comic-Con this summer with never-before-seen footage, cast appearances and other "massive" fan events, the details for which are as follows:
Hall H Panel - The studio’s panel on Thursday, July 18th will feature ENDER’S GAME filmmakers and cast, including producer Bob Orci, director Gavin Hood, and cast members Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.
Exclusive Fan Experience – Attendees will be able to visit an elaborate, specially constructed ENDER’S GAME exhibit outside of the Hilton Gaslamp, featuring 8 unique rooms representing the most iconic environments of Ender’s world, complete with original film props and set pieces used in the movie. Throughout the experience, attendees will be able to see exclusive film footage on LED screens, interact with new digital content, integrate photos of themselves into the highly anticipated Battle Room, and register to win a home make over.
Convention Floor Booth - Summit Entertainment’s booth located within the Grand Hall will highlight ENDER’S GAME footage. Premium promotional items will be distributed to the 120,000 attendees walking the convention floor, and booth visitors will be given the opportunity to win “fast passes” to the ENDER’S Game Exclusive Fan Experience, granting them entry without having to wait in line.
The studio also this week released some exciting new propaganda-esque "Ender's Game" posters, including with a scene of destruction declaring "Never Again!" These new images coincide with a recent update to its IF Sentinel website which includes new updates from the faux International Fleet to get fans into the political spirit of things, if you will. In other news, there's been some potential casting speculation with regard to "The Fault In Our Stars" this week to speak of as well. As explained by our pals at Fangirlish, "The Maze Runner" star Chris Sheffield tweeted a little somethin' somethin' about the script for "TFIOS" and had fans wondering whether he's up for the as-yet-uncast part of Isaac in the film.
And "Maze Runner" co-stars Ki Hong Lee and Will Poulter recent set aside a little time to video chat about their experience filming down in Baton Rouge so far and otherwise just gush about the kinship that's developed between all the little Gladers on set (watch the video at Page to Premiere).
Also, that upcoming adaptation of "The Giver" is getting a little more interesting as five actors have reportedly been testing to star opposite Jeff Bridges in the long-awaited adaptation of Lois Lowry's dystopian masterpiece. According to The Wrap, actors Nick Robinson, Tye Sheridan, Dylan Minnette, Miles Heizer and Dylan Sprayberry were called in to test for the central role of Jonas over the weekend, along with the unavailable Kodi Smit-McPhee and Brenton Thwaites.
Finally, the official "Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters" Twitter handle (@OfficialVAMovie) has been sharing some fun little behind-the-scenes glimpses at the on-going production of the Mark Waters-led adaptation, including a super exciting sneak peek at the set for St. Vladimir's Academy! Both "The Maze Runner" and "Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters" will hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2014.
