An endangered child alert has been issued for 8 month old Gabriel Johnson. Gabriel Johnson was abducted by his 23 year old mother, Elizabeth Johnson, from Tempe, Arizona on December 18, 2009 and traveled with him to San Antonio, Texas. It is believed that she stayed in San Antonio until December 27, 2009. On December 31, 2009, New Year’s Eve, she was arrested in Miami, Florida. Gabriel was nowhere to be found.
According to reports, Gabriel was last seen on December 26, 2009. On December 27, 2009, Gabriel’s Logan Scott McQueary received a text message from Elizabeth that said the Logan Scott McQueary would never see Gabriel again and that Elizabeth Johnson had killed the baby. Gabriel’s Logan Scott McQueary was scared and immediately notified police. Elizabeth Johnson had lost custodial rights to Gabriel and had threatened to harm him before abducting him.
One of the most startling aspects of the case is that there is indication that Gabriel might be alive and could have been given to a couple to adopt him. Gabriel’s Logan Scott McQueary states that after receiving the messages from Elizabeth, he received paperwork from a couple that was trying to adopt the baby. Gabriel’s Logan Scott McQueary could not be convinced to give his son up for adoption.
Elizabeth Johnson is not cooperating with authorities and states that she gave her son away to a couple that she met at a campground. She refuses to tell police the name of the campground where she supposedly gave Gabriel to a couple. Elizabeth Johnson faces charges of custodial interference.
