Enter the Amity Turkish Cultural Center (ATCC) essay contest before midnight Friday.
Here’s The Skinny
The first-place winning essay in each category is worth $250 each for you and your teacher.
In all the ATCC will award 44 cash prizes.
You kids are in good hands, too. The annual contest is sponsored by Duval County Public Schools, the Istanbul Center, Florida State College at Jacksonville, WJCT, the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast US, and the Turkic American Federation of the Southeast.

Rules summary:
- Deadline:Friday, February 10. Online submission only.
- Prizes:Presented at the Award Ceremony, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Advanced Technology Center Room T-140 at FSCJ Downtown Campus.
- Theme: “1 billion hungry in the world – What’s your role?”
- The contest is for students in grades 6-12.
- Students may submit one essay.
- Essays should be no more than 1,000 words long.
- Please format your essay in 12-point Times New Roman font. No pictures please.
- Essays may be one of the following types: Persuasive, Informative Essay, Narrative Story or True Story
- Essays are judged according to a rubric (set of tandards) developed for the contest.

About the ATCC
A 501(c) (3) non-profit established in 2007, the Amity Turkish Cultural Center works to promote better understanding and closer relations in Jacksonville and the Southeastern US and to proactively contribute to solving educational, cultural, environmental, social and humanitarian issues. The Center focuses on four main issues – education, culture, dialogue and humanitarian works.
ATCC offers in-school programs for K-12 students on a variety of subjects such as language, science and art as well as summer schools and camps. The Center also organizes seminars and lectures for adults through partnerships with university departments and student organizations.
